Kids YOGA, NATURE & ART Class Description:

An introduction to yoga in a playful, fun atmosphere, using music and games.  Creative activities and nature themes are used to help children connect with yoga postures and breathing. Examples of a class for younger children (age 5-7) include: 
1. Introduction to yoga breathing and body warm up sun salutation (modified to suit age and ability of children)
2. Yoga flows that are based on nature stories 
3. This might be followed by a short hike in the ravine with magnifying glasses, butterfly nets or bird calls to learn and discover through these nature exploration tools.  A nature based story might be substituted depending on the weather. 
4. The active class would typically close with additonal yoga flows, and a closing yoga sequence with music. 
5. A resting time (savasana) with blankets and short guided meditation end the class.
6. Colouring mandalas or making globes out of modelling clay are activities available while waiting for pick-up. 

Older children (age 8-10) would work additionally on pushing their physical limits with poses that strengthen the body and interactive yoga such as partner or team yoga.  Meditative nature games for this age are appropriate such as silent observation and sketching in the ravine.  All materials provided.
